Settlement announced in Miller v. NCO Financial Systems, Inc.
Milwaukee, WI -- January 10, 2003 -- Ademi & O'Reilly, LLP announces that today, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Division, granted preliminary approval to the proposed settlement of the federal class action case Miller v. As a result of litigation such as Miller v. NCO Financial, the United States Department of Education no longer permits debt collectors to use envelopes bearing the name of the federal government in debt collection efforts related to student loans. Student borrowers will no lonoger be misled into believing that correspondence is being sent to them by the United States government, when it is in fact coming from a private debt collector.
